FLIGHT

Above Earth and Beyond

Fly on the Space Shuttle with this great DVD from IMAX

Originally there were six Shuttles built, The Enterprise, Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour.

The Enterprise was a test craft and never actually flew in space. It had no engines and no heat shields.

The Challenger disintegrated only seconds after launch on January 28th 1986 killing all seven on board including Christa McAuliffe, the first teacher in space.

The Cloumbia disintegrated on entry on February 1st 2003 killing all seven astronauts.

The Shuttle program is being phased out and the final flights will take place in 2010.

Now you can journey into space alongside the astronauts on the Space Shuttle as they orbit around the Earth, floating as never before over the towering Andes, the boot of Italy, Egypt and the Nile. Witness firsthand a tension-filled satellite capture and repair and the historic first spacewalk by an American woman. See space as seen by Sally Ride the first American woman in Space. Get as close as humanly possible to experiencing a Space Walk with Kathryn Sullivan, the first woman to walk in space. Go along with John Glenn on the journey of a lifetime.

With this great DVD from IMAX you could only get closer to outer space if you became a NASA astronaut.
